North Louth Cllr Antóin Watters has hit out at illegal dumpers after a number of tyres were dumped just outside Carlingford.

Cllr Watters said: "Tyres dumped just outside Carlingford this morning. Small rural roads being targeted for illegal dumping again."

This is not the first time the Sinn Féin Councillor has had to speak out against illegal dumping. In February of this year, he spoke to the Dundalk Democrat after a series of tyres were dumped in the Edentubber area.

Speaking in February Cllr Watters said: "It's becoming a weekly pilgrimage for me heading to Edentubber to see more tyre dumps. There is definitely a problem with illegal dumping in Louth. The Government is providing funding for illegal dumping, and I'll be asking the local authorities to make an application at the Louth County Council meeting this morning."
