Rose who grew up in Cooley now favourite to win Rose of Tralee PIC: www.roseoftralee.ie
Carly McGrath, this year's Toronto Rose who lived in Cooley from the age of two, has become joint favourite to win this year's Rose of Tralee festival.
Carly's parents are Irish and moved to Toronto in the late 1980's. When Carly was two, they moved back home to Cooley.
North Louth was a great place to grow up as far as Carly is concerned. "Having the shore at my doorstep and a quad to hop on in the evening, was my ideal way of growing up!", she said.
The 25 year-old, who also trains and competes in Brazilian jiu-jitsu, was a 20/1 shot with BoyleSports at the weekend but was backed all the way into 5/1 just hours before the cameras role on the first night on interviews.
It makes the Cooley, Co. Louth native, who was born in Toronto, a joint favourite for the contest alongside London Rose Grainne Hawkes and Melbourne representative Suzie Jackson.
