Minor injuries unit at Louth County Hospital will open in September

The news was confirmed by the RCSI Hospital Group

It has been confirmed that the minor injuries unit at Louth County Hospital will be open by the end of September 2018.

The opening date was confirmed by the RCSI Hospital Group, who had been instructed by the Minister for Health, Simon Harris, to reply to a Parliamentary question which was asked by Louth TD Fergus O'Dowd in the Dail recently.

According to the RCSI Hospital Group the minor injuries unit will be open to see patients over 5 years of age at the Louthy Count Hospital.

To ask the Minister for Health the position regarding the opening of the minor injuries unit in the Louth County Hospital, Dundalk and if he will make a statement on the matter.”

The statement said: "It is envisaged that the Minor Injury Unit at Louth County Hospital will be in a position to see patients over 5 years of age with minor injuries by the end of September 2018."

The opening of the unit has been marred by delays and confusion over reductions in age limits of patients who could be treated at the facility.
