Registration encouraged for Blackrock St Pat's Day parde

The Blackrock St Patrick's Day parade is set to be one to remember.

Organisers of the Blackrock St Patrick's Day parade are reminding anyone who wants to enter floats, vehicles or groups into Saturday's event to register online.

The parade, which gets underway at 1.30pm at Cocklehill, will proceed along the main street and up Sandy Lane where it will end at the community centre at around 2.30pm. Local postman Tom Gaskin is once again acting as the Grand Marshal for the parade, with this year's theme - 'Coastal Carnival'.

It is hoped to create a riot of colour and music along the main street as the parade passes through, with organisers keen to make this year's effort one to remember.

A team of judges will also pick out winning parade entries in categories such as Best Overall Float, Best Colourful Float, Best Creative Sound Float and Best Impact Float.

To help with the management of the parade, organisers are asking anyone interested in enter to register for free online. You can do so by clicking here. Once you have registered you will be assigned a numbered position for the parade and patrons are advised to arrive at least 30 minutes before the start.

The Blackrock Tourism and Development Group are also looking for new stewards to help with the running of this and other events throughout the year. To register your interest in helping out, click here.
