Dundalk gardai involved in cross-border arrest

Dundalk gardai were involved in a cross-border high-speed chase after a man fled across the border after carrying out a burglary in the north on Wednesday, March 7th.

The man who was "known to gardai and PSNI for criminal activities" was reported to gardai for dangerous driving around Dundalk town  centre

Gardai say they attempted to stop the man who was driving a black Audi TT after locating him in the  Griffith Place area of Dundalk.

The vehicle would not stop and continued onto the Newry Bridge, Nicholas Avenue, and the Castleblaney Road before crossing the border into Northern Ireland.

Gardai say the man was arrested by the PSNI as he tried to cross the border back into the South for a second time.

A spokesperson for Dundalk gardai said: "We were delighted with the co-operation between gardai and the PSNI. The fact that this man was arrested means that we have prevented burglaries in Dundalk."
