Two youths arrested by Dundalk Gardai after dangerous driving rampage on M1 motorway

Two males, aged 23 and 26 years old, have been detained for dangerous driving offences and a number of road traffic offences following a driving rampage at the weekend.

A 51-year-old man, who was driving along the Newtownbalregan road at 12:40am on Sunday night (February 18) was hit by a vehicle.

Posts on the New Traffic Watch Louth And Monaghan And Speed Vans Facebook group reported seeing a number of ambulances and Garda squad cars in pursuit of the dangerous drivers.

Dundalk Gardai said that two males were arrested and taken to hospital as a “precautionary measure”.

No life-threatening injuries were sustained in the crash, according to the gardai.

The two young males are currently being questioned by Gardai at Dundalk Garda Station.
