REPORTS: Dundalk set to benefit as part of €115bn 'Project 2040' plan

According to early reports, the Government's Project 2040 infrastructure plans will see Dundalk benefit as part of the €115bn investment to be spent over the next decade and beyond.

The full infrastructural plans are to be revealed in Sligo this morning, however early indications show that Dundalk, along with the likes of Athlone, Drogheda, Sligo and Letterkenny will become 'economic growth centres'.

Project 2040 will be formally approved by Taoiseach Leo Varadkar and his ministers at a special Cabinet meeting in Sligo this morning.

The plan will focus on the building of schools, houses, roads and hospitals to meet the future needs of a growing population.
