Late-night car robbery foiled in Dundalk

Late-night car robbery foiled in Dundalk

A would-be thief who tried to steal a car late last night in Dundalk was stopped in his tracks and fled after being spotted by the car's owner.

Speaking to The Democrat, the car owner explained what happened outside her home along Tom Bellew Avenue at around 2.30am last night.

"My dogs where unsettled so I took them downstairs. I was only back in bed when I heard a noise from outside.

"My partner went to the window and said there was someone in my car, he went downstairs and I opened my bedroom window and told him to 'get out of my car' and that the 'guards where on their way'.

"When he saw my partner he casually walked away as if nothing happened, but then he ran away."

According to the car owner, the Gardai arrived shortly afterwards, but the would-be thief was long gone.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Dundalk Garda Station.
