The father-of-four who was charged with the 2005 Irene White murder has been further remanded in custody.

Niall Power (45) of Gyles Quay, Riverstown, Dundalk appeared via video link at Cloverhill District Court yesterday morning for his second hearing.

The Irish Times reported that the solicitor for the Director of Public Prosecutions told Judge Halpin that the State would not consent to bail for Mr Power.

Judge Halpin ordered Mr Power to appear again on February 22nd.

Irene White was killed in the kitchen of her home beside Ice House Hill park on April 6, 2005.

Mr Power was charged with Irene White's murder when he appeared in Dundalk District Court on February 1.

He is the second man to be charged in relation to the case of Ms White. In January Anthony Lambe (35) from Annadrumman, Castleblayney, Co Monaghan was charged with Irene's murder and received a life sentence after he pleaded guilty at the Central Criminal Court.
