Niall Power was charged with the murder of Irene White in Dundalk District Court this morning. 

The 45-year-old married father of four has an address in Gyles Quay, Riverstown, Dundalk. 

Sergeant Mick Sheridan arrested Mr Power at Dundalk Garda Station on Tuesday. 

The accused will be remanded in custody and will appear via video link from Cloverhill prison on February 8th. 

Niall Power's solicitor said that he would be applying for legal aid. 

Legal aid was granted after Defence solicitor Barry Callan told the court his client is a father of four who takes home €420 euro a week.

Irene White, 43, was killed at her home beside Ice House Hill Park on April 6, 2005. 

34-year-old Anthony Lambe was sentenced to life in prison for the murder of Irene White on Monday.
