Sinn Féin Councillor Antóin Watters  vowed  "tackle the scourge" of illegal dumpers after he found a large pile of tyres which had been dumped at the side of the road in Edentubber, Ravensdale.

Speaking to the Dundalk Democrat the Louth Cllr said: "This is the third tyre  dump in the area since Christmas. I'm sick to the back teeth of it.

"It's a disgrace that tyres  are being dumped in areas of such natural beauty."

Cllr Watters posted a video on Twitter after he came across the tyre  dump on Saturday.

The TD tweeted: "Very sad to report another incident of dumping at Edentubber over the weekend. As you can see from the video today the disgusting act has continued just across the road.

"I will continue to raise the issue with the Council and the relevant agencies to tackle this scourge."
