Local election candidate Ollie Morgan has called on Louth County Council to review the lighting situation in Aghameen Park, in Muirhevnamor.

In a statement, Morgan told of accidents that have occurred recently.

"I have been informed that two residents have suffered bad falls in the area, in recent times, as a result of poor lighting. I have also learned that a street light which was removed a number of years ago and has never been replaced.

"This is an utter disgrace and totally unacceptable in an area where there is a large population living and use this street as a short cut to "Dunnes-The Neighbourhood", a supermarket which is quite popular with local residents.

"Residents have informed me that they feel unsafe and insecure in their homes without their full and proper supply of lighting in the street.

"Accordingly I have contacted the relevant authorities and I would call on SSE Airtricity Ireland and Louth County Council to review the lighting in Aghameen Park and replace the light that was removed immediately."
