The current Louth Rose Aoife Heffron is hosting a fundraising event on Friday 26th January in Russell's Saloon Gin Emporium in aid of Chernobyl Children International. There is a raffle on the night with spot prizes sponsored from local businesses across Louth.

As part of her reign as the 2017 Louth Rose, she will travel alongside, 2017 International Rose of Tralee Jennifer Byrne and her fellow 2017 Roses of Tralee to Vesnova Orphanage in Belarus with Chernobyl Children International on the 14th February to volunteer for four days.

In anticipation of the trip, Aoife is hoping to raise €1,500 for Chernobyl Children International, which will be used for much need medical supplies for the children who are still being affected by the Chernobyl nuclear disaster 32 years later.

Aoife Heffron, Louth Rose commented: "I would love to see my local community rally together to ensure that Friday's fundraiser for Chernobyl Children International is an overwhelming success.

"We have a raffle on the night with a host of fantastic prizes, such as four BoyleSports Irish Grand National tickets, afternoon tea for two at the Four Season Carlingford and vouchers for the Lisdoo and Fitzpatrick's restaurants, which have been very kindly donated. Russell's Saloon Gin Emporium have been a big supporter and sponsor of mine throughout my time as the Louth Rose and I want to take this time to them for all of their valuable help.

"I would also like to thank each and every businesses that have very kindly sponsored prizes for the raffle."

"Our main aim during our trip to Vesnova Orphanage with Chernobyl Children International is to bring smiles to the faces of these children and show them love, as well as bringing over much needed supplies and medical items. For years Roses have made the trip over to Vesnova to volunteer alongside the Chernobyl Children International and I feel very privilege that I have an opportunity to work with such a noble charity."

"If you can't make it on the night there are other ways to show your support and make a donation. I have an Everydayhero page set up, which can be found on my Facebook page AoifeJane, where you can donate directly to the Chernobyl Children International, the perfect way to ensure that your charitable contribution goes straight to them."
