Award-winning journalist Robert Fisk pays visit to Dundalk
Robert Fisk, renowned writer and journalist, made a visit to Aiken Barracks in Dundalk with an associate last Thursday.
Fisk has been a Middle East correspondent since 1976. He holds numerous British and international journalism awards including the press award Foreign Reporter of the year seven times.
An Arabic speaker, he is one of a few western journalists to have interviewed Osama bin Laden on three occasions between 1993 ans 1997.
Robert was presented with a Lee Enfield mark III Rifle from Walid Jumblatt, Lebanese Druze Leader. Robert, through his friend Lt.Col. Mark Hearns, presented the rifle to the museum in Aiken Barracks. While in the barracks he paid a visit to the Veteran Support Centre where he was briefed on the work the Centre.
Robert lives in Beirut he still reports on Middle East affairs.
