Rape Crisis North East delighted with Dundalk response to fundraiser
A table quiz will be held in the Lisdoo this Friday January 19th in aid of Rape Crisis North East.
The quiz starts at 7.30pm and a ticket for a table of four is €20. Quiz-goers can expect finger food, spot prizes, a DJ, dancing and much more on the night.
The fundraiser is being organised by Carmel Pinto and her daughter, Cassandra. “We wanted to raise money for Rape Crisis North East because we know a survivor of sexual assault and abuse and the Rape Crisis Centre helped them so much,” Carmel says.
“I really don’t think they get the recognition that they deserve, they do brilliant work,” she explained.
Many local businesses have pitched in to help. “All of the local butchers have donated food, the Lisdoo have offered to cook the food for free and have donated the room to us,” Carmel says happily. “The Lisdoo have also provided us with a DJ for the night.”
A lot of local clubs have also been promoting the event and Carmel says she is truly grateful for their support. “Thai Dundalk have been great at putting it up on Facebook and have a link on their Facebook page to donate money for people who can’t make it,” she says. Volunteers have also taken it upon themselves to sell lines for the raffle, the winners of which will be announced on the night.
The event is tipped to be a huge success, with 67 tables already being sold. “We would have been happy with selling 20 or so tables,” Carmel laughs. “We can’t believe how much support we have gotten, we only have three tables left.” The crowd will also be treated to Cassandra performing a dance which she choreographed herself.
The event is ticket only, so if you are interested in going, contact Carmel on 0876408858, before the last three tables are sold. A link to the event page on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/events/1745551172184033/permalink/1816075115131638/
