Blackrock school deliver a staggering number of shoeboxes for charity appeal

Pupils from St Francis National School, Blackrock, took part in the Team Hope Christmas shoebox appeal and made up over 200 shoeboxes filled with gifts for vulnerable children in countries throughout the world, through the Team Hope partnership network.

The shoeboxes were recently collected from the school by the area coordinator, but not before a group photograph was taken.

"Since the school was established ten years ago, pupils have taken part in the shoebox appeal", said school principal, Oreena Lawless.

"It's therefore a cause that our pupils and their families are familiar with and the support and generosity of parents is simply overwhelming. The shoebox appeal is a fun and easy way to get the message to pupils that Christmas is about giving.

Team Hope collects shoe boxes which have been filled with gifts, and send them all over the world, giving to children who normally receive nothing for Christmas. This small and generous gesture means so much to the children who receive theses boxes.
