The Dundalk soccer community has been plunged into mourning today following the news last night that Kevin Magee of Woodview Celtic FC had passed away.
Kevin was known as 'Mr Woodview' and was widely known throughout the local sports world.
Woodview Celtic led the tributes to him on their Facebook page
"It is with deep regret and sadness that we are writing this post this morning to say that Mr Woodview Kevin Magee passed away last night, everyone at the club are totally devastated.
"Kevin has left a long legacy behind him and there is no doubt without him that we as a club would not exist. Kevin started Woodview way back many moons ago and built the club from out of the back of his van to turn us into one of the best clubs in the area.
"His hard work and dedication was second to none Kevin loved Woodview and we all loved him. The memories that he has left behind will be cherished by everyone who he crossed paths with.
"Kevin we will all miss you RIP Mr Woodview."
Local rivals Muihevna Mor FC also put up a tribute on their Facebook page.
"Everyone at Muirhevna Mor FC are shocked and deeply saddened to hear this morning of the passing of Kevin Magee.
"Kevin managed some of our current senior team with Woodview Celtic taking them from the bottom leagues of the old MDL right to the top. While you were a rival on the pitch Kevin, you were always a friend. The club would like pass on their sincerest condolences to Kevin's family at this sad time.
"Rest In Peace Mr Woodview."
