Was fined for dangerous driving in five townlands between Carlingford and Omeath

A 30-year-old motorist prosecuted for dangerous driving in five townlands between Carlingford and Omeath, after he failed to stop for gardaí was fined €300 at Dundalk District Court last week for driving without insurance.

The solicitor representing Emmet McGuigan of Ardaghy, Omeath, told the court the incident - on November 6, 2012, was five years ago and her client would lose his job as a delivery driver if a driving ban was imposed.

The court heard the accused had six previous convictions for drugs offences.

Judge John Coughlan said he would not disqualify the accused but he warned him "Keep your nose clean...you're a very lucky man".
