Dundalk woman had 80 previous convictions

A woman with 80 previous convictions, who stole €48 worth of cosmetics from Dealz in Dundalk while she was under a nine month suspended sentence, had her case adjourned at the local district court last Wednesday so she can be considered for the new drugs court in the New Year.

Bernadette Joyce with an address care of the Simon Community, Dundalk admitted committing the offence on May 29 last, a month after she was bound to keep the peace and be of good behaviour as part of the suspended jail term for three other theft offences.

Judge John Coughlan put back the case to February 28, after the Defence solicitor asked the court to consider ordering a Probation report, as she said the accused is a recovering addict who has been doing very well recently.
