Louth Hospital MIU to accept children from aged five upwards
21 Nov 2017
Health Minister Simon Harris, folllwing a visit to Louth County Hospital in Dundalk yesterday, announced that from February next year the MIU (Minor Injuries Unit) at the Hospital will be accepting children from the age of 5 upwards.
Although the news has been broadly welcomed by Dundalk people, many believe it does not go far enough.
"Good news for sure. However, much more services should be restored to the hospital in the future", stated one person on social media.
Others echoed this thought:
"Great news, but there really should be a fully functioning a&e department open."
"Still not enough, more departments need to re open"
"We need the whole Hospital to reopen," stated another.
Other posters on social media hoped it would be the start of the reinstatement of a full hospital service over time.
"Brilliant - that’s a start!", added one person.
"It’s a step in the right direction," agreed another person.
