Man accused of carrying loaded gun on Dublin-Belfast train to face trial

A 23-year-old man accused of carrying a gun and ammunition on a Dublin to Belfast train is set to be tried at the Special Criminal Court.

Ciaran Ryan, with an address, at Summerhill, Dublin 1 is charged with possession of a CZ model semi-automatic pistol with two rounds of 7.65 Browning calibre ammunition and one shotgun cartridge in July.

The offences are alleged to have occurred at Connolly Station in Dublin on July 19. The Special Criminal Court is a three-judge, non jury court.

Nikita Murtagh, aged 20, from Mariners Port, Sheriff Street, Dublin 1, is Mr Ryan's co-accused and is charged with the same offence. Mr Murtagh also been returned for trial to the same court.
