A woman in Ardee had a dramatic labour on the side of a road on the way to Our Lady of Lourdes in Drogheda last Sunday.
The National Ambulance Service confirmed to The Democrat today that they received an emergency call at 4pm last Sunday for the Ardee area, for a female in active labour.
The caller advised that the woman was currently been driven towards Our Lady’s of Lourdes Hospital, in Drogheda at that moment.
The National Emergency Operation Centre call taker remained on the phone with the caller, providing pre hospital instructions while the emergency dispatcher allocated the closest emergency ambulance and rapid response vehicle with an advanced paramedic on board.
The emergency ambulance arrived on scene just under twenty minutes later to where the car was parked on the side of the road.
Thankfully the crew were able to assist the delivery and that the child had been born and mother and child were doing well.
