Tributes flow in after sudden passing of well-known Dundalk youth worker

Well-known local youth worker John Kearney from Coxes Demesne, Dundalk passed away suddenly today.

Youth Work Ireland, whom John worked with, posted a tribute on their Facebook page this afternoon:

"It is with deep regret that we inform you of the untimely death of our friend and colleague John Kearney who has been part of our team for many years. May he RIP
Always remembered."

John won a Volunteer Achievement award in 2004. He also worked at The House in Coxes Demesne for the past ten years.

Many others added their own tributes on the page.

"Such sad news. He has helped hundreds of kids in Coxes. He was simply the best and never had a bad word to say to anyone I know Coxes will never be the same without you John. But we will keep your memory [sic] will live on"

"So sad and such a lovely chap, always there for everyone, RIP John xx"

"Such sad news, remember john from we were kids, thoughts and prayers are with his family x"

"Such heartbreaking news I am in shock Rip John xxxx"
