Thirty members from Fighting Fit Gym Dundalk have taken part in the first ever 'Hell and Back at Night' event to raise money for The Dundalk Simon Community.
Hell and Back is an outdoor obstacle course where participants run a distance of between five and 12 kilometres through muck, freezing water and a number of natural and man-made obstacles.
This was the first Hell and Back at Night where participants had to tackle the course in the pitch dark with only a head torch to navigate their way.
The Fighting Fit team raised a total of €3,750 for The Dundalk Simon Community who provide services to people who are homeless or are at risk of being homeless in Dundalk and the surrounding areas.
“I’m so proud of everyone who took part in the event and who donated to this great cause,” Stephen Mulligan, owner of Fighting Fit said.
The Simon Community is a brilliant volunteer based charity whose services are vital to the community.”
This brings the total amount fundraised this year by Fighting Fit members to €8,822.
The gym has set a goal to break the €10,000 mark by the end of the year.
Their next event will be a charity wax involving all of the coaches at their Christmas party in aid of the Dundalk Soup Kitchen.
