Dundalk FC mascot, Lilly the Panda, made the short trip to DkIT recently to support GOAL Jersey Day hosted by the first-year Event Management Students.
Jersey Day is part of a flagship fundraising campaign for the international charity, GOAL, in which staff and students of businesses and schools nationwide don their county or club GAA colours, soccer or rugby jerseys, in an effort to raise much needed funds to support international aid projects.
The DkIT campus was awash with colour as eager students wore their favourite county and club jerseys to support the day, raising an impressive €550 for the charity in the meantime.
There was much activity on campus throughout the day such as penalty shootouts, a cake sale, balloon popping, ‘mocktail’ making, nail painting, Jersey Day ‘selfies’ with Lilly the Panda and a raffle which included a signed Dundalk FC jersey as its top prize.
First year students from the DkIT Bachelor of Arts in Event Management put their event management skills to the test by organising all activities on the day.
It was indeed a very successful day for a very good cause.
Well done all.
