Man charged with possession of knife

A bench warrant was last week issued for a 21 year old man charged with three alleged offences, who failed to appear at Dundalk District Court to meet his bail.

His solicitor told the court Johnny McMahon was living rough and explained that her office had contacted the defendant's mother, who had taken him back to Belfast.

He was charged with being intoxicated in a public place on Park Street on June 10th and at the Marshes Shopping Centre five days later, and with possessing an offensive weapon on Clanbrassil Street on June 13th - a curved arched handle with a blade.

Judge William Hamill issued the warrant after he was told the defendant was in breach of his bail conditions, which included observing a curfew at a local address.
