It was a red-letter day for parents and student of Coláiste Chú Chulainn and Coláiste Lú recently when it was confirmed that the tender documentation for the appointment of a construction firm for the new school building at the Marshes had been published.
The publication of the tender marks the next step in the process towards the completion of the planning and the start of the construction phase.
Construction firms have a period of 42 days to submit a quote for the project, after which bids will be assessed by the Louth and Meath Education and Training Board (LMETB) and by the Department of Education and Skills.
Speaking of the publication of the tender, Principal Deirdre Uí Liatháin stated: "We are delighted to have reached the milestone of having the tender published.
“This now gives us a clear process and timeline to the ultimate goal of our new school at the Marshes.
“I am delighted for our students and parents that this marker has been met."
In the interim period during the build phase, students from Coláiste Chú Chulainn will be based at the Marist building on St Nicholas Street while students from Coláiste Lú will be based at the school in Chapel Street.
