The redevelopment of the Bishop's Garage service station continues on the Newry Road Dundalk with significant ground works having taken place in recent weeks.
There is now a massive excavation crater that pedestrians can view on the site.
The paper understands that this will house the new fuel tanks for the eventual fuel pumps above.
The redevelopment will consist of a single storey building to northern boundary, which is comprising a convenience retail store of 100sq.m, an internal seating area, a hot food deli and ancillary food preparation area, storage, staff, plant and toilet areas.
It also includes a replacement forecourt canopy and 3 pump islands and replacement underground fuel tanks, a new car wash facility relocated to northern boundary and relocated monolith signage and new company signage throughout the site. There will also be 14 car parking spaces, and an air/water services area. The business has been operating on the road for over 30 years and is one of four different fuel stations along the road.
