St Louis take podium places at Monaghan School Triathlon

In early April over thirty students from various years headed north to Monaghan town to participate in the second edition of the annual Schools Triathlon.

Students swam, cycled and ran individually or as members of a team in both the Junior and Senior categories. For many of the students it was a return to Monaghan after a very successful first running of the event last year. Despite a number of mechanical glitches and some illness on the day all who entered completed the 250m indoor swim, 10km cycle and 2.5 km run on windy and hilly courses around Monaghan town.

A special congratulations to Shauna McGahon, dubbed the ' Girl from Atlantis', who came a fabulous second in the senior category in her first ever triathlon. Likewise, a big well done to Molly Smith for her terrific third place finish in the Junior category. The school wish to thank to Ms Woods, Mrs McCreesh and Mr Pentony for helping out on the day and tour driver Francie Finnegan for getting to McDonalds before the High School did.

To all the girls who took part, especially those who were new to the event, well done - training for next year starts now.
