Plans underway for 24 new homes in centre of Castlebellingham
Plans are underway for a new housing development of 24 homes in Castlebellingham, with a planning application lodged with Louth County Council in recent days.
Fergus McArdle has applied for planning permission for the development at Main Street/Phlás an Ghearlánaigh, Castlebellingham, which would comprise the alteration, extension, refurbishment and subdivision of the existing derelict two storey houses on the site, and the construction of 24 new homes.
The proposed 24 homes consist of: two one-bedroom apartments; a block of duplex apartments along Main Street comprising three, one-bedroom apartments and three, three-bedroom apartments; a block of duplex apartments comprising three, one-bedroom apartments and three, three-bedroom apartments; and one block of duplex apartments comprising five, two-bedroom apartments and five, three-bedroom apartments.
The planning application provides for all ancillary and associated site development works including site clearance works, a new vehicular entrance off Phlás an Ghearlánaigh, new pedestrian access of Main Street, car parking spaces, communal open space area, cycle parking, bin storage, and hard and soft landscaping and boundary treatment works.
The proposed development will also include amendments to a previous planning permission currently under construction at Main Street, Castlebellingham of 20 new homes, to include revisions to road layout adjacent apartment block two, and all ancillary and associated site development works.

A decision is due on the application, which is at a pre-validation stage, by 7 May 2026, with submissions due by 16 April.
