88 new subsidised childcare places

There will be more support for parents in Louth as 88 new places are created with the expansion of subsidised childcare places.

Louth County Childcare has welcomed the expansion of the Community Childcare Subvention Programme (CCS) which supports low income parents to avail of reduced childcare costs.

The CCS Programme was previously only available in community/not-for-profit childcare services and supports parents in low paid employment and training or education by enabling qualifying parents to avail of reduced childcare costs.

An extra €16million was allocated in Budget 2016 to provide for the expansion of the CCS Programme to private childcare providers in order to make CCS funding more accessible to families and children.

This is particularly welcome in Louth where childcare places are predominantly provided by private childcare providers.

Private providers are now invited to apply to deliver a CCS Programme, and, if children in their service meet the CCS eligibility criteria, they can be subvented on a ‘first come first served bases (to the maximum budget capacity of €16m nationally over 2016).

Information for parents on CCS band eligibility is available from LOUTH COUNTY CHILDCARE COMMITTEE, please contact us at 042 9336364 or visit our website
