Fitzer snatches seat in Louth

Fine Gael TD for Louth Peter Fitzpatrick grabbed a seat in the Louth constituency following a dogfight with Labour Minister Ged Nash.

The former Louth GAA boss had to wait until the 11th count on Sunday evening to find out if he was returned as TD.

It was a tense finish in the Ramada as the count neared the end.

But Fitzer took the seat.

With Imelda Munster's surplus getting him over the line.

Fine Gael running mate Fergus O'Dowd also made the cut.
