Three men appear in court after over €10.1m worth of cannabis seized in Louth

506kg of cannabis, worth over €10.1m was seized

Three men charged in connection with the seizure of 506kg of cannabis, worth more than €10.1m have appeared before a special sitting of Dundalk District Court. 

The men, two aged in their 30s and the other in their 50s were arrested on Friday under section 72 of the Criminal Justice Act 2006 in relation to facilitating and enhancing drug trafficking activities for an organised crime group.

The joint-operation was conducted by the Garda National Drugs & Organised Crime Bureau and the Revenue Customs Service under Operation TARA. 

This operation involved the search of a premises in the Co. Louth area and resulted in the seizure of 506kgs of Cannabis, with an estimated value of €10,120,000.

They are currently detained, pursuant to the provisions of Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act 2007, at Garda stations in Counties Louth and Dublin.

Gardaí confirmed investigations are ongoing.
