Dundalk councillor provides update on Louth County Council's Storm Chandra response

Flooding on the N2 Drogheda Road in Ardee

Cllr Robert Nash, Cathaoirleach of Dundalk Municipal District has provided an update on Storm Chandra. 

In a social media post, Cllr Nash issued an update for Dundalk/North Louth. 

  • On Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning, Louth County Council Fire & Rescue Service assisted householders on Ardee Road, Dundalk, whose properties are at risk of flooding. A specialised tanker is due on site around 10.30am to take over water removal operations.
  • Crews attended to flooding at Mill Road, Dundalk, on Tuesday evening. Gullies and grills are scheduled to be cleaned today.
  • A tanker was deployed to various sites in Dundalk on Tuesday evening, including Cluan Enda, Bay- Estate and St Alphonsus Road, to pump water out of affected areas.
  • Faulty electrical wires on Carrick Road, Dundalk, were reported to Out of Hours on Tuesday evening.
  • A Jet-Vak truck is due on site today to clear gullies in Cooley, Dawestown, Jenkinstown and Omeath.
  • A JCB crew is currently on site in Corrakit, clearing debris that was washed out onto the road.
  • Water levels continue to be monitored in areas of Dundalk and if needed tankers will be deployed.
  • A number of roads have been closed, including the Green Road in Dromiskin and Local access roads such as Hazelwood Avenue in Bay- Estate.
