Applications are open for 23 Cost rental homes in Drogheda

Cost rental homes are designed for people who do not qualify for social housing or other supports like the Housing Assistance Payment (HAP) but still struggle to rent in the private market.

The homes have their rents set at a minimum level of 25 per cent below the local market rents. The home rents are set to cover the cost of construction, maintenance, and operation of the development.

Applicants can apply for one of the 23 A-rated two and three-bed apartments and duplexes. Rent for the 11 two-bed apartments is €1,292 per month, while rent for the 12 three-bed duplexes is €1,508 per month.

The homes in Tullybrook on the outskirts of Drogheda are provided by Approved Housing Body (AHB) Clúid. AHBs are independent, not-for-profit organisations.

Averil Power, Chief Executive Officer, Clúid said people are facing difficulties trying to secure good value homes in the private rental sector.

"With rents at least 25% below the market rent, this is a great opportunity for individuals and families to enjoy a secure, long-term tenancy in a brand new, high-quality, mixed-tenure development, close to all the amenities of Drogheda," she said.

She said Clúid are expecting high demand for the homes, and urged interested applicants to familiarise themselves with the eligibility requirements.

The homes were developed by Clúid, in association with Louth County Council.

Interested applicants should complete their application on www.cluid.ieThe deadline for applications is 5pm on Wednesday 28 January.

The homes are picked on a lottery-based system.
