Louth TDs urged to support investment in young people in Budget 2025

129 Louth constituents send postcard calling for investment in young people and youth work in Budget 2025

An open postcard calling on Louth's five sitting TDs, to support investment in young people in Budget 2025, and signed by 129 people from Louth, is being posted to each TD by the National Youth Council of Ireland.

The postcard addressed to Sinn Féin's Deputy Ruairí Ó Murchú and Deputy Imelda Munster; Independent TD, Deputy Peter Fitzpatrick; Labour's Deputy Gerald Nash, and Fine Gael's Deputy Fergus O'Dowd, calls on the TDs to do what they can to ensure "young people are supported in Budget 2025 with an investment of an additional €15 million in youth work".

The full text of the postcard reads: "Dear Deputy Ruairí Ó Murchú, Deputy Peter Fitzpatrick, Deputy Imelda Munster, Deputy Gerald Nash, and Deputy Fergus O'Dowd,

"We’re your constituents, and we’ve signed this postcard to ask you to take a stand for young people in Louth and beyond. We are lucky to have a growing youth population. By 2025 there will be over 1 million under-25s in Ireland, but they need meaningful support.

"Please take whatever action that you can to make sure young people are supported in Budget 2025 with an investment of an additional €15 million in youth work. Your representation could make all the difference."

It is then signed by each of the 129 Louth constituents. NYCI says that 4,891 people signed 156 postcards to TDs in every constituency across Ireland, calling for "a much-needed €15 million investment in youth work in Budget 2025. This support will help to raise awareness and build the momentum needed to ensure that young people and youth work get the attention and investment they deserve".
