Louth sees minor fall in homeless figures
The number of homeless people accessing local authority managed emergency accommodation in Louth fell by four last month according to figures released today by the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage.
236 adults accessed local authority managed emergency accommodation in the North East region (which comprises Louth, Monaghan and Cavan) during the week of 24-30 June, including 213 in Louth. It is down from 239 people in the North East region in May, which included 217 adults in Louth.
Of the 236 adults in the North East region, 117 were male and 119 were adults. 45 were aged 18-24; 117 aged 25-44; 68 aged 45-64; and six were aged 65 and over. 142 were Irish citizens, 53 were from the EEA/UK; and 41 were non-EEA citizens.
59 families, which included 118 children, also accessed emergency accommodation during the week of 24-30 June 2024 in Louth. It is down from 63 families, with 136 children in May. Of the 59 families, 43 were single parent families.
Nationally, 9,899 adults and 4,404 children were reported as having accessed local authority managed emergency accommodation in June, giving a total of 14,303 homeless people in the country, another record high figure.
