Work is underway on a Louth County Council social housing development in Dundalk that has received government funding, as part of the Housing For All housing plan for Ireland.
Louth County Council was granted Part 8 planning permission last year for the development, which is located on lands north of Tom Bellew Avenue in the Muirhevnamore Estate in Dundalk.
11 new homes are being constructed in the development across three sites. It comprises, on Site 1, a three bedroom single storey dwelling and a two bedroom single storey dwelling.
Site 2 comprises three, three bedroom two storey dwellings and a two bedroom single storey dwelling. Site 3 comprises four, three bedroom two storey dwellings and a two bedroom single storey dwelling.
The development plans also provide for a new pedestrian/cycle route from Villas 2 to the Inner Relief Road, along with a new design to accommodate a more sustainable rear access for existing residents. These new rear access areas are to be managed, controlled and well lit, according to the Part 8 planning application made by Louth County Council.
