Louth County Council closes Deerpark Road following flooding

Louth County Council has said that the Deerpark Road in Ravensdale is to remain closed until further notice, following the unprecedented flooding this week that has seen widespread damage across the Cooley Peninsula.

Since Monday evening, staff and crews of Louth County Council have dealt with numerous flooding instances throughout the affected areas of the County.

In north Louth, the areas of Carlingford, Omeath and Ravensdale have been affected severely with several properties and businesses being affected throughout the areas. 

The local authority says that fire crews from Dundalk and Carlingford supporting those with flooded properties in Carlingford and Bellurgan. It adds that anyone affected with flooded waters can report same to info@louthcoco.ie or call 042 9335457.

Louth County Council has received confirmation from the Department of Social Protection that the Community Welfare Service can provide assistance to households and businesses in the immediate aftermath of flooding through the Humanitarian Assistance Scheme.

Those affected are asked to contact the service by calling 0818 60 70 80 or by calling into their local Intreo Centre. See here for further information on the scheme.
