Power out in buildings in parts of town centre

ESB Networks says that disruptions in parts of Dundalk, including Seatown and Jocelyn Street, were due to works to facilitate repairs to a building in the location.

The Dundalk Democrat contacted ESB Networks after reports of a large number of ESB vehicles being stationed in the centre of town, along with reports of power outages.

In a statement to the Dundalk Democrat, ESB Networks said that "These works were to facilitate repairs to a building in the location.

"ESB Networks standards require us to use a hoist for steel pole works, so hence there were a number of ESB Networks vehicles deployed in order to conduct these works efficiently and safely, while keeping disruption to customers to the minimum amount of time possible.

"This outage was notified to impacted customers in the area until 3pm today but was restored by 12 noon."placeholder image

"This forms part of upgrade work for the network in Dundalk, which involved replacement of overhead line. It will contribute to the resilience of the network in the town and we thank customers locally for their cooperation and patience."
