North Louth man fined for abusive behaviour

A 43 year old north Louth man on seeing gardaí in Carlingford called them "a pack of f***ing c***s" and told them "I'm a Republican', Dundalk District Court heard last week.

Brendan McGuigan with an address at Bavan, Omeath was charged with being intoxicated in a public place and using threatening, abusive or insulting behaviour at Market Street, Carlingford on April 23rd last.

The investigating garda gave evidence to the court that he had been on mobile patrol when he saw the defendant causing a nuisance and shouting abuse at door staff.

After hearing the defendant had five previous convictions including for public order offences and criminal damage, Judge Eirinn McKiernan imposed a €250 fine for using threatening, abusive or insulting behaviour.
