Members of the Loughran Family came together at Weavers Park to launch Locky’s Legends, an upcoming charity game that will unite two iconic teams from different eras.

The much-anticipated match, scheduled for the 17th of June with kick-off at 3pm, will showcase the 2013 team and the 2007 team. This exceptional event not only commemorates the rich history of Drogheda United but also pays tribute to the beloved Kit man, Brendan Loughran, who dedicated his life to the sport.

The Locky's Legends game holds immense significance for football fans as it honours the memories and achievements of Brendan Loughran, an integral figure behind the scenes at Drogheda United. Loughran's unwavering passion, dedication, and infectious enthusiasm made him a beloved figure among players and supporters alike. This charity event aims to celebrate his legacy by raising funds for two worthy causes: the Tredagh Lodge Day Care Centre and Drogheda United Football Club.

The match will see some of the greatest names in Drogheda United's history return to the pitch for Locky's Legends. The 2007 team will feature legendary players such as Graham Gartland, whose commanding presence in defence earned him a special place in the hearts of fans.

Ryan Brennan, another celebrated player from the 2013 team, makes an appearance, showcasing his skill and prowess in midfield. Joining them will be a host of other former stars including Fabio O’Brien, Gavin Whelan, and Dan Connor, ready to relive the glory days and captivate the crowd with their exceptional talent. Former Managers Mick Cooke and Paul Doolin will also coach the teams for the event.

Football enthusiasts, both young and old, are encouraged to secure their seats early to witness this historic match and contribute to the worthy causes. With each ticket sold, proceeds will directly benefit the Tredagh Lodge Day Care Centre, an organisation dedicated to providing support and care for the local community, as well as Drogheda United Football Club, assisting them in nurturing young talents and maintaining their prominent position in Irish football.

Locky's Legends Charity Game promises an afternoon filled with excitement, nostalgia, and the spirit of giving. Football fans and supporters of Drogheda United alike will come together to honour the memory of Brendan Loughran and contribute to two vital organisations.

Lorraine Balfe, Brendan’s daughter commented at the launch:

“We’re encouraging everyone to mark your calendars for the 17th of June, gather your friends and family, and join us at the stadium for an unforgettable experience as Locky's Legends celebrates Dad’s love of football and Drogheda United, and raises vital funds for Tredagh Lodge.”

Noel Heeney, Branch Member in Drogheda Branch of Alzheimer’s society and board member of ASI, Tredagh Lodge Day Care commented:

“This event is such a fantastic way to bring the community together to celebrate Brendan and create awareness of the services that we provide. Our day care centre provides dementia specific care to meet the needs of the person in a warm, welcoming and safe environment and we are very thankful to the Loughran family for choosing us to be beneficiaries of this exciting event and wish them the best of luck, we encourage everyone to pick up a ticket and join the celebration.”
