Ardee Concert Band win at National Championships

All the people from in and around Ardee are all so proud of all 26 members of the Ardee Concert Band Intermezzo Ensemble and their excellent conductor James MacCafferty who played so brilliantly and musically on Saturday April 15th in the fourth Section of the National Band Championships in Athlone.

They took to the stage of the Dean Crowe Theatre in Athlone town for the morning session of the competition to be adjudicated by Mr Michael Ball. 

They were awarded the second prize trophy and they also won the award for the Best March.

Congratulations to the winners of this section, Castlebar Concert Band, who were entering these Championships for the first time, a spokesperson for he Ardee Concert Band said.

Congratulations also go to Senior Band member Kevin Reilly on receiving an honorary life membership award on the day for all his hard work and dedication to the Irish association of brass and concert bands.

The Ardee Concert Band Senior band competed in Section One Concert and although there were no prizes for them in this section, they enjoyed their performance of Candide Suite by Bernstein.  

"We would like to send our congratulations to the Dublin Concert Band who took first prize and to Boherbouy Brass and Reed Band from Limerick who took second prize”, said Ardee Concert Band PRO Sinéad Behan.

"We send our congratulations out to our neighbours and friends in Drogheda Brass Band who took first prize  and to the Lourdes Brass Band who took home second prize in Section One Brass.”

Well done to everyone involved with the Ardee Concert Band!
