Dundalk and District League set to stage historic 100th season

Hard fought victory sees Shamrock's crowned Premier Division champions

The Local soccer scene kicks up a notch in the coming days with the return of the Dundalk & District League, with eight teams vying for the trophy in what looks set to be memorable year for all involved.

The 2023 season will be the 100th playing season since the League began in 1905/06, when St Mary's (The Marist) became the first winners. Since then their have been 97 champions, with two seasons unfinished.

Muirhevnamor FC with 12 wins have won the most titles, while Quay Celtic are close second with 10 wins. For the record, the two unfinished campaigns were in 1936/7 and the 1962 summer season. 

When the dust settles and all the matches have concluded, the winners will be crowned the 100th League champions, a notable landmark in the Dundalk and District League's long enduring history.

Below is a list of the fixtures for the first two weeks of action, where Shamrocks FC will look to start off their fight to retain the league title, firstly by making the trip to Flynn Park to face Bellurgan before then hosting Glenmuir at Pairc Eoin Baiste.

Monday 24th April

Tues 25th April

Rock Celtic vs Bay FC (kick off: 19:45PM, Sandy Lane)

Wednesday 26th April

Bellurgan United vs Shamrocks FC (Kick off: 19:30PM, Flynn Park)

Rampart Celtic vs Carrick Rovers (Kick off: 20:10PM, Dundalk Sports Centre)

Week 2

Tues 2nd May

Bay FC vs Bellurgan United (Kick off:19:00, Bay Park)

Quay Celtic vs Rock Celtic (Kick off: 19:30, Clancy Park)

Muirhevna Mor FC vs Carrick Rovers (Kick off: 20:00PM, Muirhevnamor)

Wednesday 3rd May
