Three Louth businesses picked up prizes at the weddingsonline awards held at a gala dinner at the Mullingar Park Hotel recently.
The awards, now in its 14th year, was set up to recognise excellence within the wedding sector and to reward those businesses that stand out from the crowd.
Dundalk band ‘Long Time Coming’ scooped the ‘Band of the year’ award on the night.
Local string quartet ‘D-Strings’ took home the ‘Wedding musicians of the Year’ award, while Ardee based Classic and Executive Wedding Cars won ‘Transport supplier of the year.
Long Time Coming perform a wide and varied choice of wedding music genres, from waltzes to rock, from 60’s to modern hits, from rock to pop, from Irish – American and all party classics in-between.
Frontman of Long Time Coming, Alan Foran from Blackrock said he was “beyond grateful” for the award.
Taking to Facebook he said:
“As some people may or may not know, I have been in the wedding industry for over 26 years, I have performed for hundreds and hundreds of happy couples throughout this time and have had an amazing journey.
“Tonight, me and my band Long Time Coming Wedding Band have won 'Band of the year 2023' in the most prestigious awards ceremony in Ireland hosted by weddingsonline.”
He continued:
“To my team, David, Sean, Carmel and Paddy and Sheena, the same crew I've had since 2017, it's a testament to you guys that we have created a working environment that we can enjoy and continue to thrive for all our events.
“Most importantly, to our couples, for the most important day of your lives you bestow the utmost faith in us to entertain your nearest and dearest. Without you guys, every single one of you, this award and recognition would not be possible.”
D-Strings have been playing together for over 15 years at wedding receptions, ceremonies and other special occasions and play a wide repertoire ranging from classical to modern/pop/traditional
They also expressed their delight saying:
“To say we’re absolutely delighted to win Wedding Musician of the year at the weddingsonline awards last night is an absolute understatement.
“Such a night of fun with the absolute best in the industry. It made getting on the road at 7am after a night of antics that little bit easier this morning, knowing that hard work is recognised!
“Thank you so much to everyone who has messaged, emailed etc to congratulate us.
“Biggest thank you of all to all our wonderful, hardworking and talented musicians in the D-Strings team who keep standards high on each and every event to deliver this award winning service for each of our couples and clients.”
