Louth Community Volunteers celebrates successful first year with event in Toale’s

Toale’s Tavern was the venue last week, for the first ever Louth Community Volunteer’s social where Louth Volunteer Centre celebrated the commitment and effort given by the volunteers to supporting local events and activities.

“The Louth Community Volunteers programme is a great addition to the suite of services offered by the team here at Louth Volunteer Centre,” says manager Kayleigh Mulligan, “not only for the organisations and community events that are supported by the volunteers, but for the volunteers themselves. The programme is open, inclusive and diverse and it’s very easy to get involved with.”

Sunday’s event was well attended, and the volunteers were celebrated with afternoon tea, music from Scale Force and fun and games with the retro arcade games and billiards now available in Toale’s venue.

The management at Toale’s said that they “are delighted to support an event that recognises the important work of volunteers and charities in the community. We have a lovely venue here and look forward to hosting more charity gigs and events in the near future.”

Louth Community Volunteers is an events and urgent community support project, where volunteers are trained and ready to be deployed to support local projects.

The volunteers are managed directly at events by Louth Volunteer Centre, and can be requested via their website www.volunteerlouth.ie.

Becoming a Community Volunteer is a great opportunity to get involved in your local community by supporting local events and initiatives throughout the year. It is a chance to learn more about your local area, meet new people and develop new skills and have fun.

The volunteers supported 19 community events last year including beach and urban clean ups, St Patrick’s Day, Drogheda Pride, charity fun days and Festive Friends on Christmas Day.

Sign up by simply registering with Louth Volunteer Centre, call 041 980 9008 or visit their offices at County Hall, Dundalk or Bolton Street, Drogheda.
