Plans progress for 14 apartments at Clanbrassil St in Dundalk

Plans include refurbishment, alteration and extension of existing commercial building

Plans are progressing for 14 new apartments at Clanbrassil Street in Dundalk, with the submission by the developer of further information on the planned development to Louth County Council.

Tanola Ltd. c/o Dundalk Fabrications applied to the local planning authority in August 2022 for planning permission for the development at 57 Clanbrassil Street in Dundalk that would include the refurbishment, alteration and extension of the
existing commercial building and its extension at ground floor level, with a new ground floor shopfront to include a new
entrance door and replacement display window glazing and reinstatement of original side arched access.

The plans include the refurbishment, alteration and extension to first and second floor to form a two bedroom/four person apartment and a two bedroom/three person apartment.

The proposed development would also see the construction of a new standalone apartment building to rear of No 57 comprising 12 apartments, of which 11 are one bedroom/two person units and one of which is a two bedroom/four person unit.

Two submissions were made against the application, including one from Clanbrassil Street Traders c/o Jacqueline McParland, for reasons including a lack of car park spaces being provided for residents in the planning application.

Louth County Council sought further information on the planned development in October 2022, and following the receipt of this on 15 February, a decision is now expected on the application by 14 March 2023.
