John B. Keane’s The Matchmaker returns to Dundalk's An Táin Arts

Back by popular demand, John B Keane’s hilarious comedy drama The Matchmaker, starring Norma Sheahan, who starred in The Clinic and Mooney Boy and Jon Kenny, D’Unbelievables comedian, returns to An Táin Arts Centre on Friday 10th March at 8pm.

Directed by Michael Scott, The Matchmaker follows the efforts of Dicky Mick Dicky O’Connor to make matches for the lonely and lovelorn.

Using his inimitable way with words and his one sense of “devilment” and wit, Keane delves into the longings, hungers, fears and foibles of this collection of lonely country people and creates a marvellously colourful world, taking us back to a simpler time.

At the root of the play is the aching physical loneliness of the single life in rural Ireland and the search for love late in life.

Director of An Táin Arts Centre Paul Hayes said: “We’re delighted to have this classic of Irish Theatre back for the third time.

“It’s proved a massive hit with audiences and is sure to be a great night out’.”

Tickets €20 (plus €1.50 booking fee per ticket) and €18 concession (plus €1.50 booking fee per ticket) and can be purchased from An Táin Arts Centre’s Box Office on Crowe Street, over the phone on 042 9332332 or online at www.antain.ie
