Louth music group named Entertainment act of the Year at wedding awards

Local wedding music group D-Strings have been named ‘Entertainment act of the Year’ at the weddingsuppliers.ie awards.

The group have won various awards over the last decade and 2023 is set to be no different as they have already made the finals in three of Ireland’s top wedding awards, and nominated in various categories in each.

Additionally, the group have reached the final stages in both the ‘Irish Wedding Awards’ and ‘The Weddings Online Awards’- awards they’ve won before. 

With a string quartet, a string trio and an electric violin option D-Strings have significantly branched out since they began over 15 years ago covering ceremonies, drinks receptions, meals and DJ live sets at weddings and events across Ireland and Europe. 

The musicians have been asked to play alongside some of the world’s leading artists and bands, and have performed at some of the top celebrity weddings in Europe in the last decade. 

Yet owner and violinist, Deirdre O’ Hare, tells us their favourite bookings are often the local ones. 

“Louth really is  one of the best counties in Ireland when it comes to weddings and events. 

“We love travelling around the country, and further afield. 

“It’s always great to fly off for a few days to a wedding abroad, and do some celebrity spotting, but I’m not sure any other county offers the choice of amazing venues for weddings as Louth does. 

“Hotels, castles, barns and country house venues, they’re all on our doorstep.”
