Fitzpatricks Golf Society enjoyed a memorable outing to Donabate Golf Club on Saturday June 30 for the inaugural Rose Brennan Shield.
Rose’s husband Tom Brennan was on-hand to present the trophy to Peter Moran after a most enjoyable day’s golf on an excellent golf course in fair but a little blustery conditions.
Rose was an active and valued member of the society and warm words of appreciation were spoken of her by secretary Sean Russell, captain Joe McCarthy and winner Peter Moran at the presentation of prizes in the club house afterwards. Tom Brennan spoke of his appreciation to the Society for the commissioning of the shield in her name.
It was fitting that the best round and the best shot of the day belonged to Rose’s son Ger, whose brilliant approach to the 10th won the nearest the pin prize which he collected along with the visitors prize.
Ger Brennan left himself this tiddler for birdie on the 10th hole of the Donabate Outing – the best shot of the day and definitely nearest the pin.
The winners for the outing were - Winner of Rose Brennan Shield 2012: Peter Moran; Category 1 1st: Barry Hughes 2nd. Noel Hatch; Category 2 1st: Mark Pagni 2nd. Sean Russell; Longest Drive: Mark Pagni; Nearest the Pin: Ger Brennan; Visitors Prize: Ger Brennan. The outing was generously sponsored by Blue Wave Technology.
The next outing is scheduled for Mannan Castle Golf Club on Saturday July 21. Start time is 10am.
